Insomnia Restaurant Bar Lounge

I've been a longtime supporter of cheeseless pizza, and I will continue to defend it, even as a non-vegan. Each type of pizza at Insomnia is named after a street or neighbourhood in Toronto, and the ones I've ordered without cheese don't taste like they're lacking anything. I especially recommend the Rosedale - the pesto and spinach more than make up for the "missing" cheese.

They are gooey and glorious. The potatoes are crisp and covered in a delicious barbecue sauce. If you can get seated at one of the comfy couches in the back that's an added bonus.

Only open until 2am, Insomnia is a misnomer – folks with sleep disorders should go to 7West at 4am for snacks. But the morning after a wide-awake night, do head to Bloor & Bathurst for the comfort of perfectly poached eggs nestled in hot toasted English muffins, with fruit salad and the most incredibly addictive sauce-slathered potatoes anywhere. They also have great coffee, amazing waffles, dreamy cream-cheese filled French toast and a fully stocked bar, as well as local art on display.

Potatoes to kill for. They arrive pre-tossed in a magical mix of sauce and salsa.

The food is great. You really can't go wrong, but if you feel like pancakes, be sure to call ahead ... they take 30 mins, but they are awesome.

I have a friend who actually dreams about the brunch here.
