it's the closest you'll get to authentic Italian gelato.. reminds me of the yummy gelato in Trastavere...

I know there there are several ice cream shops which I haven't tried yet so I cannot say about them. I have been to LaPaloma a handful of time and their ice cream is great [love the hazelnut and tiramisu]. However due to it's location and price, I might have to find something closer downtown.

I love the gelato, the neighbourhood and especially the quirky paintings hung on the walls (like a cow on a popsicle stick).

I've only been to the original location on St. Clair. W. and it's a great spot. It's been around since 1967 and there are so many options. The gelato is priced at a premium but it's tasty!

their gelato isn't too sweet like I find it at many places, but instead quite refreshing. They have an excellent variety of gelato flavours too.

They have all of the wonderful flavours that I remember from being a little girl, and a few that I wish existed back then...like tiramisu and baci.

Sicilian makes the best italian gelato in the city. Lemon Ice is to die for.

It reminds me of Italy! Solferino's is the reason I bought a place in the St. Lawrence Market area! I only wish that they would allow two flavors in the small gelato serving. It's too hard to choose just one. My faves are Hazelnut and Cafe.

There's a reason people line up for an hour to spend $9 on gelato - it's that good. I can't bring myself to buying it often, but it's a great treat when I'm feeling thin and rich.

Good gelati is food of the gods. When you can't cross the Atlantic for the real Italian experience, head to Solferino's for smooth, delicious summer treats in new and old favourite flavours. Great atmosphere and location.

I'm not often in this part of town, but when I am, I like to drop in to Hollywood Gelato - they let you choose 3 different flavours for a 'small' gelato...they have a lot of chocolate bar themed gelatos (Mr. Big, etc), but I stick to the lemon/vanilla/berry combo.
