agreed, BMV is pretty awesome. name is an abbreviation of books, magazines, videos, i belive...
This amazing bookshop has the selection of chapters at garage sale prices, is open late, and is just all around fantastic. My favourite place in the city!
cultural dissonance as art form. it's inspiring to see freaky vintage etiquette books, science texts, and porno paperbacks all rubbing shoulders in one little shop. plus they sell typewriters. four f*ckin stars!
Great atmosphere - a converted Victorian home with wood floor and floor to ceiling book shelves.
Used Books....need I say more. AND, they have them catalogued www.recycledbookshop.com
Great character, great selection
The books are sooo cheap!! $4.50 for a softcover book, that is usually priced at $20 - $30!! The staff is very helpful, and they have a wide selection! You'll walk out with a handful of books....guaranteed!!!!
Great prices on books which are in "new" condition. Bad news for your wallet. Inevitabley, you will find books you couldn't find anywhere else, for that price, in that edition and in that condition and you have a real fear that it won't be there the next time you come back.
You always walk out with something that you never expected you'd want to own.
it's huge, it's cheap, great selection.
want "on the road" for 5 bucks? go here.

after my first visit, it already became my favorite bookstore. There is no book (or "curiosity") in the store that I wouldn't want for myself. Amazingly eccentric collection. Excellent browsing venue.
Friendliest black cat in Toronto retail-dom.
And a great selection of art, design and architecture books.

Weird and beautiful. It's like a museum of forgotten information. Great place for a smart date.
