Having grown up in Chennai, India (home of the original Saravanaa Bhavan), I've been to several SB branches over the years. Still, I find it impossible to tell the difference between the food at the Canadian branches and that of the ones back home - it's as authentic as it can be. Don't leave without trying masaala dosa, idly and saambhar vada. If you're feeling adventurous try 'South Indian Thaali', which is a combination of around 20 different kinds of food in one plate.
