Favourite things at Centre Island

in june i saw young galaxy, rogue wave, the stars and death cab for cutie play on olympic island! it was my first concert and the best i could have ever imagined! although it gets crammed when 17, 000 groupies are trying to cross the bridge in pairs, it's totally worth it in the end ... if just to see the sunset over the toronto skyline. usually ferry fare is included in the ticket price too!

You don't have to bring your own bike, you can rent! And, the view is gorgeous.

Well the whole place is like a huge walking bike path.. so you have to think about these things... where else better to walk and bike but near large bodies of water... it sure beats pounding the pavement downtown... and it' usually a few degrees cooler than the city... the breeze off Lake Ontario helps beat the summer heat...

the ferry ride is beautiful, the grounds are nice and well kept, and there's lots to do!

Best place to rollerblade leisurely - no vehicles to avoid! If you stumble, you will more likely fall on a patch of grass than a hard sidewalk!

The Island is Toronto's most under appreciated public space. It's the best place to go when there's a festival and even more when there isn't! You can feel like you're a million miles away from a city and then turn around and there it is.

Watching the sunset on the Centre Island side by the shore (take the ferry over) during the summer offers a view like no other. The view is spectacular - so beautiful it looks like something out of a painting. Definitely a place to check out in the summertime!

They have a whole frisbee golf course running the length of the islands. Great way to keep the walk through the manicured park lively and interesting. Even better with a surreptitious flask.

Great to get over to the island and take a stroll and just lounge for a bit on the beach. Its party time when Wakestock is here in the summer.

It's the best place to be in the summer on a boat cruising around the islands and riding our bicycles around the paths all through each island.

Take the ferry over, walk around, grab lunch, read a book...what better way to spend a summer afternoon?

There is a "clothing optional" beach to enjoy. Nowhere else in the city can you roam free and swim just as God made you...

It feels like a real getaway spot in the city! It's off the mainland, unlike the Beach district (a distant second, in my book). I simply pack a good book, some great music, a huge beach towel, water, some awesome summer fruit and I'm on vacation -- right in the city.

For the past 18 years the Hope foundation hosts a coed volleyball tournament every June at Toronto's Centre Island. All proceeds go to local charties. I have played a few times in this tournament and I have never seen so many VB players.Typically 400 teams a year enter the tournament. It is well organzied and fully equiped with a beer tent, BBQ's, DJ.....need I say more?

the whole family can ride it, without the risk of falling over. Perfect relaxing way to spend time with your family.
