OurFaves runs display advertising for local and national advertisers on the site, as well as offering various local and national advertiser sponsorship opportunities. Down the road we hope to deliver hyper-targeted local ads and special offers to opted-in OurFaves users, based on their indicated preferences.

OurFaves is really new and improved word of mouth, so if you just found a great urban stroll route, cool indie boutique, or discovered a gem of a late night diner, don’t keep it to yourself – create a fave! The only limit to the faves you create is your own imagination, and your experiences of the city where you live. You can fave anything, but it’s especially great to turn people on to things and places they might not have known about otherwise. So get out there, explore your neighourhood, explore your city, and report back on the results! Make your voice heard! People can’t wait to hear what you have to say.

A great fave starts with a great experience.

Write about the places and things you really love, that you wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to a friend. Write a description that gives people a sense of why this is one of your faves, or share a little insider tip or special info if you have it. And, for a really outstanding fave, include a photo. Seeing is believing when it comes to faves.

If you create a profile and/or faves, they are viewable by all visitors to OurFaves.com. You’ll be contributing to an interactive, real-time guide to what’s outstanding in the city, and joining an online community of people who will have access to the information you share.

Absolutely! But it’s important to be transparent about your connection. Let people know you’re involved – you’ll be seen as a more objective faver, and it will allow people to assess your faves with your connection in mind, and that’s important.

We know not all faves are created equal. You wanna know what’s fabulous in the city according to people who share your interests.

Not only does your complete profile give you a face in the OurFaves community, it helps OurFaves be the most useful city guide and community it can be – by helping people whose interests and preferences are similar to yours easily find their way to your amazing faves.

You, in turn, can find your most trusted fave sources by checking out other users’ profiles, to find out if their faves might be right for you. The profile feature helps you filter through all the faves to find what you really care about – the faves from your friends, and other people who love what you love.

Notifications are your updates on the recent activity in your friend network.

They help you keep up with what’s been happening since you last logged in. When people have extended or accepted a friendship request, when you have received a compliment or message, or when your friends have added new faves, this information will appear in your notification feed. The faves you add will also show up in your friends’ notifications.

You can choose to be notified by e-mail whenever there has been some new activity in your network. Or you can disable this function and catch up on your network activity when you log in to OurFaves.com. To disable notification e-mails, click "Edit Profile" in the upper right corner of any page, then click "Edit Notifications" to disable notification e-mails.

Tags are simply keywords assigned to a piece of information, allowing that information to be easily categorized and linked to other related information.

For example, in your profile, you might tag yourself as “twenty-something”, “breakdancer”, or “tall”. Or a restaurant on might be tagged “italian”, “cheap”, or “great ambiance”.

These tags allow links to be made between items that share any one of these characteristics. Since most items (people, places and things) will have multiple tags assigned to them, this type of classification allows for multiple and very specific ways of filtering and browsing information.

Use tags to indicate your interests, characteristics, associations, or anything else you’d like to share that helps define you.

A complete user profile, including personal tags, will help people determine if your faves will likely be of interest to them, and other users’ tags will help you find your way to faves and friends that will be a good match for you.

We take privacy very seriously. We do not sell, rent, share, trade or give away any of your personal information, unless required to by law. We hate Spam even more than you do.

If any of our members are found to have violated our Terms of Use by sending unsolicited commercial messages to other OurFaves members, we will investigate and take action immediately.
