It's a gorgeous walk. They really spend a lot of time taking care of the property. I also quite enjoy the chipmunks (which are very tame). Weddings crowd the park a bit in peak season, but there are still some nice quiet spots.

There's a different festival every weekend of the summer season. While some are more successful than others, you really can't beat the free concerts or the free swag you manage to procure in a quick walk down the boardwalk. It's a good way to spend some time outside without spending money on anything other than bus fare.

I get the satisfaction of getting new quality books for cheap without the sketchy used mystery stains and smells attached to the pages. Like any bargin, you have to do a bit of digging. It's not exactly alphabetized. But in the end, I'm happy saving well over $100 for a bag of summer reading paperbacks.

Astoria Shish Kebob House
Multiple Locations
Even though I live in the most western part of the city, I will bus/dive/walk/bike/crawl through Toronto to have dinner at Astoria. I've been going to this place for souvlaki since I could eat solid food. And they don't mess with a good thing, because the menu has stayed pretty much the same my entire 20 years of being on Earth. They're not cheap on anything, maintaining a high quality of food and of service. Fresh salads, tender meat, flaming cheese... it's all good.

I like that there are little art galleries and shops in every nook and corner. It's a great place to explore because there aren't any cars and the exhibits change often enough. There's also usually something happening, some sort of event to keep the people watching premium.

They have the best selection in Toronto and the people who work there really know their stuff. If they don't have what you want, they'll order it in for you. They also carry a good selection of coffee beans, which they'll grind up for you on site. Their selection of tea sets and teddy bears would impress your grandmother.
