finding this store made me believe in magic & unicorns.
vintage pucci is life & hauling ass to the paperbag princess in yorkville BLOWS - dennis & his house of vintage have saved my life.
thank you.
I like artists who are well rounded. Can you sing? dance? break dance? paint? spray paint? scratch some vinyl around? Derek Williamson cannnn...
be jealous, be very jealous.
Known primarily for his visual art & music - Derek is also the best dressed [straight] man I have ever met. true story. i think im in love. (again)
I actually don’t skateboard & have never bought anything at Adrift… ever.
But the guy that works there has the same hair as me…
& let’s be serious, he needs to be commended for that.
Take More Photos is kind of like the Toronto equivalent of TheCobraSnake.com
Photographer Zach Slootsky makes a point to cover some of the best parties in Toronto - from neon drenched booze-fests at The Social to L'Oreal Fashion Week.
However, a word to the wise:
If you lie to your boyfriend & say you are staying in - do not let Zach take your picture. You WILL get caught.

Elizaveta Yankelovich has never been to Holt Renfrew.
For a Canadian designer - that's weird.
yet more than a little bit awesome!
She has recently eclipsed my long time Canadian designer fave Beckerman (though I still do love them dearly) - mainly because she's oh i dunno... a prodigy.
She also incorporates 'My Little Pony' dolls sometimes & only ever makes one of a kind pieces. Its all crazy & we all know... I how much I love crazy.

I’ve been in love with fashion since I first felt Gucci snakeskin at the age of 5 & though I’ve always enjoyed L’Oreal Fashion Week, it lacks the raw, gritty element of self-expression through cloth that so many of the great underground designers in Toronto encompass.
Showcasing the work of awesome Canadian talent minus the pretentious vibe- [FAT] wreaks havoc on the city via flash fashion shows, live music, avant-garde art instillations, late night parties & insane sculptural exhibits
Well - I once had the pleasure of conducting an interview with one Ms. Dufflet Rosenberg.
She's nice. I liked her. (despite the fact Dufflet is not her real name - which was a HUGE disappointment)
But I do have a request.
Dufflet: Can you help a vegan out here? There needs to be WAY more sans-dairy options.
That being said - she does employ the coolest bakery girl ever, Sora. This girl has awesome tattoos & if you ask nicely she MAY even show you... MAYBE. but you'll have to buy something
This was not easy. There are a ton of really awesome bands in Toronto. Buttt…. At the end of the day, my fave has gotta be WHTC. They’re songs are infectious & they put on an awesome show! The paps described them as 'My Bloody Valentine' meets 'Sunny Day Real Estate.' Reminiscent of the garage bands of the 90s, so if you’re down (which you obviously are) be sure to check them out!

A Canadian tag team of two – Isis & Grahm pretty much kill it live. They describe themselves as ‘electric funky stars’ & I think that’s probably the best way to sum them up. You really have to see this for yourself.
“We make a very strong effort that when you come to the show, someone’s getting pregnant.” –Isis
Oh yes & the Montreal Mirror named Thunderheist the 2007 “Noisemaker”… which cant be working against them either!
Have you ever been to a charity auction? They suck.
Black-tie charity benefit? B-O-R-I-N-G.
Marathon fundraiser? Lame.com
Bingo for Breast Cancer? Well, kind of fun actually.
But to be honest, Party For A Cause is easier. You pay cover, you get wasted, you win. Everyone wins really because instead of your cover charge going to the venue, 100of it goes to charity. Possibly the best way to clear your conscience while simultaneously shooting JaggerBombs. I’m down.

Its late.
I’m hungry.
They’re open.
sadly... i usually puke afterwards. but its great at the time!!
So, many of you may not know why the bag should even be banned…
Well kids, let me tell you:
~almost 1 trillion bags are used worldwide each year.
~most of these end up in landfills, oceans & eventually the mouths of your unborn child (whom will probably die as a result)
my advice? Stop using bags, switch to canvas or even bio-bags. Will it kill you? No. Might not switching kill us in the future? Yes.
San Francisco & Ireland have already done banned them. Since when are we so far behind
The photo ops alone are worth the five flight crawl at the Yonge & Queen locale.
I mean, you can also buy decorations there too - but thats entirely up to you. I haven't.
the dollar store kids, the dollar store!
If Beck Taxi ever puts out a TV commercial, they should use the theme song from Full House.
i love Beck Taxi & cab #3932 is my knight in shining armour.
A fairly small bar in the middle of the Quest; it’s usually overshadowed by its evil neighbour, The Drake Hotel.
This does not bother me, I assure you.
The Beaconsfield is a great place to grab a pint Sunday night after a hectic weekend. The Sunday DJ is beyond awesome as well. His name is ‘Your Boy Brian’ & the last time I was there he played New Kids on the Block, Radiohead, The Cars, Biggie, Bloc Party, Mickey Avalon & Feist.
He wins.
we rock the party that rocks the par-ty!
its true.
If you like Guacamole: go here.
If you like sour cream: do not go here.
*There are also quesadillas, fajitas, tacos & 85cent ‘juice’… this may or may not act as a factor in your decision.
I think people underestimate the value of a good flower arrangement & Laura at Poppies is a bl**ming genious!
I, for one, put flowers everywhere… bedroom, bathtub, ‘office’, graves.
This is possibly THE most chill patio in the city... for, well, a lot of reasons.
But contrary to popular belief, you do not have to smoke to chill here... you really can just chill here & to be honest it's the quickest way to fake an afternoon in Jamaica for the price of a small coffee
Extreme fitness is basically building a new generation of health clubs for the 'young, fabulous & frugal'. Which pretty much describes me! This concept offers the 'hip & healthy' the same 'hip & haute' environments and lavish ammenities as Toronto's old 'it' clubs... but for a fraction of the cost. The newest location is the old Ballys on Bloor which they're revamping entirely. Rumour has it there will be dj booths & big-screens... ie. IM IN!
