You pick your cut of fish from filets on ice. It's seasoned, grilled, and dressed right there. It's the Caddilac of fish sandwiches. Lobster sandwich is $11.50. Nuff said!

TalZ's fave Vietnamese restaurant is at kim asia cuisine

TalZ's fave Vietnamese restaurant is at kim asia cuisine because everything I've eaten there has been suspiciously top-notch. The pho is crazy good, as is the braised duck leg noodle soup. The main attraction is a fish tasting menu for 2. Fish and seafood are prepared 7 different ways, including thai curry, bbq fish cold rolls, and grilled fish on cracker. And the prices are equally chin-scratch inducing. I always look for hidden cameras when they bring the bill.

TalZ's fave greek salad is at United Bakers Dairy Restaurant

TalZ's fave greek salad is at United Bakers Dairy Restaurant because 5 of us split a $9 large salad and were stuffed. It's an untraditional (unorthodox?) Greek salad...sure there's lettuce, cukes, olives, and feta. But the spices in the dressing resemble zaatar, a middle-eastern spice blend. It's so bomb, just try it!

TalZ's fave bagel is at Gryfe's Bagel Bakery

TalZ's fave bagel is at Gryfe's Bagel Bakery because it brings back memories of waking up on Sunday morning, opening my front door, and sitting there would be a bag of steaming hot bagels that my grandfather dropped off before any of us woke up! That, and it's the best bagel in the world. Fluffy, crunchy, salty, and toasty all in the right places. Try the weird little pizzas, too.

TalZ's fave Burger is at Johnny's Hamburgers

TalZ's fave Burger is at Johnny's Hamburgers because There are things to look out for when picking burgers: team shots of amateur hockey clubs on the wall, colours you've only seen at your grandmother's house, and photos of the owner posing with C list celebs from 20 years ago. Johnny Burger has at least 2 of the 3. If you're there I recommend the cheeseburger, onion rings, and coke.

TalZ's fave ongoing film screening series is at Bloor Cinema

TalZ's fave ongoing film screening series is at Bloor Cinema because Rue Morgue's monthly film series is home to horror junkies and the curious alike, culminating in a very active viewing experience. It's more of an event than a regular night out at the movies, with lots of rare 35mm prints and special guests. And popcorn is cheap at the Bloor.

TalZ's fave hot dog restaurant is at Big Frank's

TalZ's fave hot dog restaurant is at Big Frank's because Sausages, hot dogs, peameal, smoked turkey, all made on premesis. The front is counter service, offering veal, chicken, beef, and pork dogs. The back is...well, who knows what exactly goes into hot dogs. I bet Big Frank does. Bonus points for zucchini relish.

TalZ's fave summer festival is at Rue Morgue Festival of Fear

TalZ's fave summer festival is at Rue Morgue Festival of Fear because I get to rub shoulders with horror movie legends like George A. Romero and Dario Argento (pictured). The fest is partnered with the Hobbystar Fan Expo, which is a ginormous convention that caters to lovers of anime, comic books, and sci-fi- so if an evil Klingon steals your lunch money, a Jedi is never far, far away. Or you could just tell his mom to get it back for ya. Either way works.

TalZ's fave dim sum is at Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant

TalZ's fave dim sum is at Sky Dragon Chinese Restaurant because Because I'm a sucker for cart service, and its cheap and fresh. In my estimation, dim sum is Cantonese for "eat this 3 times a week with your comedian buddies".

TalZ's fave Chinese food is at Kom Jug Yuen Restaurant

TalZ's fave Chinese food is at Kom Jug Yuen Restaurant because Yes, the bathroom is gross, the window display is unappetizing, and the decor is dull. Survive those obstacles and the Holy Grail awaits, in the form of their BBQ pork. Owner Ping Yip sells his BBQ ducks to competing joints, who sell them as their own. A family fave for 30 years

TalZ's fave locally produced magazine is at Rue Morgue

TalZ's fave locally produced magazine is at Rue Morgue because Rue Morgue is the best horror rag on the planet right now. The people that run it really know their shit, and they're nice as hell to boot. They put on kick ass parties, screenings, and horror-related events. Reason #1 why Toronto is the new horror mecca.

TalZ's fave long-gone summer activity that miraculously resurfaced is at kite flying

TalZ's fave long-gone summer activity that miraculously resurfaced is at kite flying because One day, a bunch of us decided to spend the afternoon at High Park. Joel showed up with a kite, and it unlocked my entire childhood. Now, we can't get enough! For a stress-ball internet junkie wih a limited budget, it's been the greatest childhood activity that has resurfaced next to eating ketchup sandwiches on the toilet. Pictured are Marissa and Miki flying the Pirate Snake at Sunnybrook Park on a rental field, guerilla-style!

TalZ's fave comedy event is at Diesel Playhouse

TalZ's fave comedy event is at Diesel Playhouse because Wow, this was already faved by someone. That rocks. I'm in that show and by total coincidence, it's my fave show. Because I'm in it.

TalZ's fave coffee shop is at i deal coffee

TalZ's fave coffee shop is at i deal coffee because It is simpy the best tasting, most gratifying cup of coffee you will ever have. It's like crack. Actually it's A LOT like crack...only it's cheaper and way more addictive.

TalZ's fave fall festival is at Midnight Madness

TalZ's fave fall festival is at Midnight Madness because This year boasts premieres from Takashi Miike, George A. Romero, Dario Argento, and Stuart Gordon.Google them, you wingnut.(PS I dont know who took that pic. I stole it from the CBC site...but I did, however line up for 15 hours to see Borat. So I think I've earned it.)

TalZ's fave Ice cream is at The Big Chill

TalZ's fave Ice cream is at The Big Chill because I go there because of their Dutch Apple Pie ice cream. Lots of fancy words yadda yadda JUST EAT IT. YOU WILL SEE GOD.

TalZ's fave Korean Food not on Bloor St is at Ka Chi

TalZ's fave Korean Food not on Bloor St is at Ka Chi because I am a big fan of Korean food, and Ka-Chi does it right. Their sizzling kalbi plate kicks all kinds of ass. Check out Rebecca eating pork bone soup. Makes you want to eat it, doesn't it?
