the place is cozy and chill, perfect for meeting friends, going on a date, or just swinging by to grab a lone pint. nice and snug during the winter and has a great back patio in summer. the people are always friendly and welcoming and the bartenders are great!

Where else in the city (besides your mom's house) can you get Cheese Whiz on toast?

Generally, I like my bars the way I like my Guinness: dark, smooth and filled with love and patience. Sweaty Betty’s encompasses none of these things (except maybe the dark part) but for some reason, it makes me want to go there even more.

Its cozy back room with the old chesterfields transports me back to my high school days when my friends and I would spend hours on end hanging out at the Green Room (only minus the horrible teen angst.) Ah, the power of nostalgia. It may be in hot hipsterville, but there's nothing snooty about this hangout: the music rocks, the service is pleasantly pressure-free and the atmosphere is warmly low-key.

small as hell which makes it intimate and cosy. A mish mash of chairs, vintage tables and sexy tattoo art which gives it great character. Fantastic vibe... perfect for those who love an eccentric, friendly artsy crowd.

if you go into the cozy back room at this Ossington St. watering hole, you'll find a really fascinating collection of photographs of tatooed men and women from earlier this century - read: when tatooed skin was a sure sign of life outside of the mainstream. Captured in this series are a curious mix of circus performers and other entertainers, prostitutes and strippers, and sailors, as far as I could tell. Have a peek next time you're in.
